The first thing to remember is that babies are very good at turning themselves, without any help. Already during your pregnancy your baby will have already turned several times. Whilst a baby may choose to turn later in pregnancy, there is some evidence to suggest that babies who are found to be breech at 32/33 weeks may continue to settle into that position. It's preferable that your baby has turned head down by 37 weeks.
How can hypnosis help turn your baby?
A study in 1994 at the University of Vermont College of Medicine looked at using hypnosis to turn breech babies to head down position. One hundred women were given regular hypnotherapy sessions to reduce anxiety, encourage deep relaxation and encourage the baby to turn head down. The comparison group received the same medical care but without hypnosis. They found that 81%of the babies in the hypnosis group converted to vertex presentation compared with only 48% of those in the matched comparison group. A statistically significant difference.
